Lil Wayne is a rap artist from New Orleans. He began his career back in 1991 at age 9, when he joined Baby aka Birdman’s Cash Money Records label. His debut album was in 1999, but it wasn’t until 2004’s Tha Carter that Lil Wayne’s career began to take off.
In total, Lil Wayne has released 13 studio albums and countless other official and unofficial mixtapes. In 2006 and 2007, Lil Wayne released several collaborations and mixtapes to build up hype for his Tha Carter III album. It ended up selling over one million copies in its first week and is Lil Wayne’s most popular album.
Lil Wayne’s most recent album is the highly delayed Carter V album which features the singles “Uproar” and “Can’t Be Broken”. The long delay in the album was due to a falling out with Birdman and a contract dispute Lil Wayne went through in order to get out of his Cash Money Records contract.
Some of Lil Wayne’s other biggest singles include Lollipop, A Milli, Drop The World, Right Above It, Best Rapper Alive, Fireman, Mirror, Love Me, and No Frauds.
Lil Wayne is also responsible the Young Money Records, his own label. It has signed and developed both Nicki Minaj and Drake.
In 2019, Lil Wayne went on a co-headlining tour with Blink 182. He also left the tour multiple times due to a poor turnout for his early set times. In 2023, Lil Wayne announced the Welcome to the Carter tour.
