Phish is an American rock band that formed back in 1983. The band is known for musical improvisation, extended jams, blending of genres, and a dedicated fan base.
The current line-up—guitarist and lead vocalist Trey Anastasio, bassist and vocalist Mike Gordon, drummer and vocalist Jon Fishman, and keyboardist and vocalist Page McConnell—performed together for 15 years before going on hiatus from October 7, 2000, to December 30, 2002. They resumed touring from December 31, 2002, until August 15, 2004, when they disbanded after a farewell performance at their Coventry Festival in Vermont. They reunited in March 2009 for a series of three consecutive concerts played in the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Virginia, and have since resumed performing regularly.
The band has released 13 studio albums, with the last being back “Big Boat” in 2016. The group has put out a live concert album almost every single year that they have performed on tour together.
Some of Phish’s biggest singles include “Down With Disease”, “Free”, “Heavy Things”, and “Breath and Burning”. The group has also released a number of live concert videos on DVD.
Phish has had a heavy touring schedule for a lot of years. They were busy in 2019 and early 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic. They were one of the first bands to announce a return to live touring in the fall of 2021. The group returned on the road with limited shows in 2023 and then a full tour in 2024.
