The Internet is an American R&B band from Los Angeles, California. They have released four studio albums and 3 EPs since they formed in 2011. Their style is a mix of different genres including foul, funk, R&B, hip hop, electronica, and more.
Some of The Internet’s biggest singles are Under Control, Girl, Roll (Burbank Funk), and Come Over. They have gradually increased in popularity as of late and their 2015 album, Ego Death, was nominated for a Grammy award.
The band’s name originally started out as a joke, inspired by Left Brain’s answer to a reporter asking where he was from, to which he responded, “I hate when people ask me that, I’m going to start saying I’m from the Internet”. The idea amused Syd, and inspired the name for her side project that eventually became The Internet.
The Internet is affiliated with the Odd Future gang, also containing Frank Ocean and Tyler the Creator.
