World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is the largest wrestling promotion in the world today. It was started way back in 1953 but became it’s current form around 1982. It has been majority owned the entire time by Vince and Linda McMahon, who have both made regular appearances at TV shows and other events.
WWE travels around North America performing televised and non-televised house shows. The two most popular TV shows are Raw and Smackdown, which feature some of the biggest wrestlers on the company roster.
Once per month (or more), WWE features a pay-per-view (PPV) event which features higher stakes matches for the company. The two main PPVs are SummerSlam and WrestleMania.
Today, WWE has expanded into a ton of other media and advertising related ventures. WWE Films is a popular movie studio which regularly features wrestlers as top actors and actresses in movies.
