Official State Farm Stadium Parking Lots

As you explore your State Farm Stadium parking options, starting with the official lots makes sense. As is the case in most cities, these options will put you close to the entrances, so you can minimize the time you spend walking and maximize your time in the stadium. Of course, there tends to be a tradeoff, as these lots can fill up quickly and may be costlier than other alternatives.

When traveling to an event, it is recommended that you ignore directions provided by GPS services as you get closer to the stadium. There are likely to be road closures and temporary one-ways during events, so it’s better to follow the directions provided along with your parking pass.

There are 13 official parking lots associated with State Farm Stadium. Thanks to the wide open spaces around the stadium, most of these lots offer a relatively short walk to the gates.

The North Parking Lot offers a particularly short walk, although it is the smallest, and spots fill up quickly.

I like both west lots on either side of the Great Lawn. If you can park here, you are close to all of the State Farm Stadium tailgating and the MGM Sportsbook. General parking at State Farm Stadium costs $30 per game.

Third-Party Parking Options at State Farm Stadium

The area immediately surrounding the stadium is surrounded by official parking lots, so you will have to walk at least a moderate distance if you’d like to explore other options. SpotHero is a great way to find parking options near the State Farm Stadium. Use the widget above to browse parking spots in the area.

The best option, in this case, will be the Renaissance Glendale Self-Park Garage. You’ll want to head east on Coyote Blvd to access this garage. While this location is across W Maryland Ave. from the stadium, it’s only less than a 10-minute walk to the gates on the north end.

Free Parking at State Farm Stadium

Finding free parking on the day of an event is difficult. If you find free street parking somewhere in the vicinity, expect to walk a long distance to reach the stadium.

Consider parking at Westgate Entertainment District north of the stadium to keep costs down, where event day parking is typically $10.

Public Transportation and Ridesharing to State Farm Stadium

There are limited public transportation options to reach State Farm Stadium. This stadium is located in a suburban area away from the downtown core of Phoenix and is not served by many public transportation options.

If you don’t want to drive to the game, take a rideshare service. Uber and Lyft are available in this region, and the Black Lot south of the stadium is dedicated to rideshare drop-off and pick-up. This lot is south of Cardinals Way, only a short walk to the stadium entrance.

Because the Black Lot is designed for rideshares, it typically offers a quick exit after the event ends.

State Farm Stadium Tailgating

Tailgating is a big part of the NFL experience for many people. When talking about tailgating before a Cardinals game at State Farm Stadium, the experience centers around The Great Lawn. This isn’t your traditional form of tailgating since there are no vehicles on the lawn – it’s just a huge open space where the party begins well before each game.

While this might not be standard tailgating, it’s a great time. The Cardinals ensure this is a festive atmosphere, including live music stages, huge screens, and much more. If you are going to attend a football game at State Farm Stadium, it’s highly recommended to experience The Great Lawn at least once.

Regarding the tailgating rules, you must hold a ticket to the upcoming game to participate. Also, remember that tailgating activities must be stopped once the game is underway, so plan to head into the stadium in time to see the kickoff.

If tailgating outside the stadium isn’t for you, consider checking out one of the nearby restaurants for some food and drink options to get your day started. Some of our favorites options are:

  • The Big Red Brew Haus: This sports bar is right on-site at State Farm Stadium and is a popular spot before the game.
  • Yard House: This sports-themed pub is just north of the stadium in the Westgate Entertainment District. It has plenty of TVs, so you can watch the early morning NFL games.
  • Fat Tuesday: This pub has some great cocktails in the Westgate Entertainment District. The food is New Orleans-inspired, which a lot of people enjoy.

Everyone who attends big events has a horror story about a parking nightmare that caused them to miss the start of the game or concert. Or, if you got in on time, it might have taken you hours to leave after it was over. Let’s review some basic parking tips to ensure that doesn’t happen to you at State Farm Stadium.

Arrive Early and Beat Traffic

As part of the Phoenix metro area, Glendale has plenty of traffic to contend with – and that only multiplies on the day of a game or concert. If at all possible, plan your day to get to the stadium early and secure parking before it gets crazy.

Check to see what time the gates will open, and you can arrive early to enjoy as much time inside the facility as possible.

Know What You Can Bring

Like all other stadiums, State Farm Stadium in Glendale has specific policies regarding what can and can’t come into the building. Check these rules in advance so you don’t have to leave things in the car.

Remember Where You Parked!

There are more than 20,000 parking spots available around State Farm Stadium. With such a massive parking area to cover, you don’t want to be searching for your vehicle at the end of the day.

Consider snapping a quick picture of your car’s location on your phone so you can get back to it without any trouble.

Plan Your Exit Strategy

When picking your parking spot, consider where you must go after the event. If you are getting back on 101, favor the lots west of the stadium, like:

  • West Preferred
  • W2
  • W3
