The Minnesota Twins of Major League Baseball play their home games at Target Field. One of the newest stadiums in MLB, this is a great place to catch a game for locals and visitors alike.

This detailed Target Field parking tips guide offers detailed parking information, including:

  • The best official Target Field parking lots
  • Third-party parking lots near Target Field you can book in advance
  • Areas to look for free parking in Minneapolis
  • Handicap parking solutions
  • Public transit options for Minnesota Twins events
  • Other valuable Target Field parking tips to save time and money

As is often the case with stadiums in big cities, parking can be hard to come by around Target Field. Use this page to craft a plan so you can enjoy the day of the game as much as possible.

Target Field Parking Summary

Target Field is one of the most transit-friendly in the country with the METRO light rail, Northstar Commuter Rail, and several bus lines serving the ballpark. Pre-booking options are available and can be done through the Twins’ official website or third-party apps, which can make things easier on game days. The parking facilities near Target Field are primarily ramps and garages.

Pricing for parking at Target Field can vary widely depending on the location and distance from the stadium. Traffic congestion in downtown Minneapolis, particularly during peak times and on event days, can make navigating to the stadium and finding parking more challenging.

Street parking in the area surrounding Target Field can be difficult to find and is often subject to various restrictions, making it less convenient for fans attending events at the stadium.

Official Target Field Parking Lots

Unlike most other baseball venues, Target Field does not offer any official parking. The Twins encourage visitors to Target Field to use one of the many third-party parking options available around the stadium or to use an alternative mode of transportation, such as public transportation or a rideshare.

Main Parking Lots

While they are not technically associated with Target Field, the ABC Ramps are parking facilities just to the east of the park and are the preferred spot for many baseball fans to park.

More information about reserving parking in these facilities is later on this page in the Third-Party Parking section.

Ramp B Tip at Target Field

Ramp B parking at Target Field is connected right to the stadium. Park up near the top level to walk straight into the Skyway level of Target Field.

EV Parking at Target Field

There are several ChargePoint Charging Stations in the immediate area around Target Field. You might not be able to secure a parking spot that will allow you to charge the whole time you are at the game, but you should be able to use one of these stations to pick up a little charge before or after the event.

Accessible Parking Spaces

For visitors to Target Field who require accessible parking, both the A Ramp and B Ramp are good options. These facilities have ADA spaces available for those with the necessary permit and offer easy access to the venue.

Third-Party Parking Options at Target Field

One of the best ways to find a convenient and affordable parking space for an event at Target Field is to use the SpotHero widget here on this page. By going through SpotHero, you can secure a spot at a third-party garage or lot before the event day.

Most third-party parking options near Target Field are to the stadium’s southeast. These locations will leave you with a little walk to the gates, so plan ahead to leave time for that walk.

If you’d like to pick a location that doesn’t require much of a walk, look to the Ramp B Garage at 516 2nd Avenue North. From here, you’ll be less than five minutes from the entrance to Target Field and have the luxury of parking inside.

While this is likely the closest option you’ll find, there are many other choices, including the Ramp A and Ramp C facilities along 2nd Ave.

To save money, head further away from the stadium and look at one of the options in the area of S. Marquette Avenue. Parking can sometimes be found in this part of town for less than $10, so it’s worth spending a bit of time looking around on SpotHero for the day of your event to pick out an option that suits your needs and budget.

Minneapolis Central Library

One of my favorite Target Field parking spots is in the Minneapolis Central Library. Because it is government funded, parking is only $5 during Minnesota Twins night games.

If you park here, you will still have fast access to the 294 interstate going west after the game.

Free Parking at Target Field

While plenty of parking spaces are available in the area around Target Field, virtually all of them are paid parking. In fact, on the day of an event, it is highly unlikely you will find free parking close enough to the stadium to leave you with a reasonable walk.

The best way to avoid paying for parking is to avoid bringing a vehicle in the first place – alternative modes of transportation will be the way to go if you’d like to avoid a parking charge.

Public Transportation to Target Field

Public transportation is perhaps the best way to get to Target Field. This location is well-served by a variety of transit options, and you’ll save as compared to paying for parking. Additionally, you can avoid dealing with traffic congestion around the stadium, so the whole experience is going to be more enjoyable.

Metro Transit

Metro Transit offers a number of bus lines that will work nicely for a Twins game. The lines that will serve your needs include METRO C and METRO D, 5, 14, 22, 94, 9, and 14.

One of the nice parking tips in Minneapolis if you plan on using the Metro is that there are tons of parking lots scattered throughout the city next to rail lines. You can park in these lots for free, away from the downtown core, and then take the Metro right to the ball stadium.

Light Rail

Riding light rail is another great pick. You can ride on either the METRO Green Line or METRO Blue Line to get dropped off at Target Field.

With free parking offered at stations along the Blue Line, you can drive into the area, park for free at one of those stations, and then ride the light rail for just $1.

Ridesharing to Target Field

If you would like to use a rideshare service like Uber to get to and from the park, you won’t need to think about parking – but you will need to know where to connect with your driver. The designated zone for rideshare pickups is on Twins Way, between 7th and 10th Streets.

Of course, you’ll want to confirm this detail when you request your ride so that you can meet your driver without any trouble.

Target Field Events

Outside of baseball games, Target Field also stays busy with a concert schedule during the warm months of year. Check out this table to find an upcoming event and secure your tickets immediately.
