Top Summer Songs of 2018

Drake – God’s Plan / Nice For What

It’s hard not to include Drake on our list of top summer songs when he has spent the majority of the early summer sitting at #1 on the charts. God’s Plan, his first solo single in nearly a year, spent it’s first eight weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was replaced by – you guessed it – Nice For What. Both songs are fun, outdoor jams that are a must for all parties this year. Drake is set to head out on the “Aubrey and the Three Amigos” tour with his pals Migos later this summer.

Cardi B – I Like It (Feat. J Balvin and Bad Bunny)

Cardi B exploded onto the scene with her single, Bodak Yellow, in early 2018. The winner from her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, is this dancehall jam featuring two of Reggaeton’s biggest artists. I Like It is a fun and friendly radio smash with Cardi’s slightly rough-around-the-edges spin. It’s picking up steam at the right time and should be a sleeper pick for top summer song this year. Rather than heading out on her own smaller-scale tour, Cardi B has linked up with Bruno Mars for some dates later this summer, which should help increase her mainstream following even more.

Maroon 5 – Girls Like You (Feat. Cardi B)

The popular pop-rock group is enjoying a nice rejuvenation thanks to some well-time single releases on the chart. In early June, they released a remixed version of one of their fun album tracks and added Cardi B’s vocals. Riding Cardi B’s wave has shown to be a recipe for success (Bruno Mars recently did the same) and it should allow Maroon 5 to ride popularity into the fall as they perform on their Red Pill Blues tour.

Childish Gambino – This Is America

Childish Gambino has released one of the more surprising summer songs of the year, proving that a well timed release is everything. This is America is a satirical view of America today, but with a summer dance spin. A performance on Saturday Night Live sent this song straight to #1 on the Billboard charts and set Gambino up for a successful summer. His new album is coming soon and tour dates are on sale now.

Ariana Grande – No Tears Left to Cry

A lot of fans have been waiting for Ariana Grande’s return to music and the debut single off her upcoming album, Sweetener, does not disappoint. The UK Garage beat is a unique look for Grande and fans have embraced it as a top summer song for 2018. Ariana hasn’t announced a tour yet, but we anticipate some dates that take her into 2019 being announced very shortly.

Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa – One Kiss

Calvin Harris first single following a successful 2017 is this UK dance track with Dua Lipa. UK fans have loved this track and it has spent multiple weeks at #1 in the UK. USA fans are just catching on now, giving this song great momentum heading into the summer. Calvin Harris doesn’t play a ton of live dates, but we will keep you up to speed of anything new!
