New Orleans Pelicans Overview

Smoothie King Center Overview
Smoothie King Center is a multi-purpose indoor arena in downtown New Orleans, Louisiana. It hosts the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA). New Orleans also did have an Indoor Football League team that played here, but the franchise folded back in 2015.
The capacity for basketball games is 16,867. Outside of basketball, the arena hosts many other events, such as indoor football, concerts, and ice hockey. The capacity for concerts is 17,805. The arena is adjacent to the Caesars Superdome, where the New Orleans Saints play home football games.
Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the stadium was used to house medical operations as it stayed in somewhat good condition compared to elsewhere in the city. Since the arena opened in 1999, it has done significant upgrades such as new video boards and upgrades to all seating.
